Melanie Sue Bowles

Melanie is the founder of Proud Spirit Horse Sanctuary, one of the most successful and longest-running facilities for at-risk horses in the United States, with over 30 years of operation. Through her work at the sanctuary, she has shared the powerful stories of many animal residents, inspiring readers and animal lovers alike.
 

As an award-winning author, Melanie has penned three nonfiction books that highlight the lives of the sanctuary’s horses, alongside two novels for middle-grade readers that captivate young minds with heartfelt stories.

Her writing reflects her deep compassion for animals and her dedication to sharing their remarkable stories with the world.
